Windermere Ponds – Enjoy, Be Safe, and Respect Property Owners

Windermere HOA ponds offer enjoyment as well as safe stormwater management that helps protect our properties from flooding.  Please be aware that several ponds in Windermere are surrounded by private property, with access limited to owners of property bordering the pond (or their guests).  Those ponds include:

  • Glenn Abbey Village (north and east of Springston Court, south and west of Glenn Abbey Lane).
  • Crosswinds (north of Stillwater Court, south of Fairwoods Drive).
  • Woodlands/Woods Edge (north of Bent Tree, west of Parkway Drive)
  • All ponds on Ironwood Golf Course.

Other ponds may have limited access from Community property but include significant areas where they are bordered by private homes, with boundaries often extending to the water’s edge.  Homeowners may or may not allow visitors access to pond areas.

Please respect private property and do not access it without explicit property owner permission.  Property owners bear risk for allowing access, so it’s perfectly reasonable for them to decline a request.  Property owners have a right to quietly enjoy their property without trespassers.

More guidance is available from this document provided by HOA attorneys Eads, Murray and Pugh in 2015.  The HOA Board has confirmed this guidance remains relevant.  We encourage all residents – and especially those living on ponds – to review and maintain a copy with their property records.
