Hello HOA & Property Management Leaders,
I hope this message finds you well.
Verizon Wireless has notified the City of Fishers of its plans to install 5G small cell structures within neighborhoods to improve connectivity for customers. As an HOA leader, you are being notified that a property or properties within your neighborhood have been identified as locations for a structure installation. The City of Fishers is required by State and Federal law to allow access to public rights of way for installation of 5G with limited ability to regulate the application or placement. To provide as much public control of the locations of these structures, the City of Fishers launched a special waiver process for this project that allows you as a property owner to share feedback on the location placement of the structure.
As part of this special waiver process, HOA leaders and/or property managers are being asked to communicate to property owners, collect feedback, and present that feedback to the City and Verizon for consideration as part of the permitting process. Property owners within 200 feet of the intended small cell structure location will be notified via letter in the coming days. We will also plan to post this information to Nextdoor so that your entire neighborhood is aware of the intended tower locations. Because Verizon halted the waiver for this property prior to its approval, the process will reset, even if you began the process last year.
The waiver process requires each structure to be reviewed and approved by the Board of Public Works & Safety before construction proceeds. This allows HOA leaders and property managers to relay feedback received from property owners directly to Verizon. Neither the Board nor property owners can require a location of the structure, but they may provide recommendations for Verizon to consider. To review the planned structure(s) located within your neighborhood, please visit fishers.in.us/5G and click on “see the map” to review proposed locations.
The City of Fishers, Board of Public Works & Safety, and city officials will continue to work with Verizon Wireless and future above-ground utility applicants to identify optimal locations for the structures through this special waiver process. Our intent is to balance the growing need for the technology against the aesthetic of our community.
Below is a list of proposed structures that is planned for your neighborhood. We understand that some of our residents have concerns about structure placement, aesthetics, and environmental impact. Here is a link to distribute to your neighborhood to document any of those concerns. The city will also provide updates and details about this deployment on our website, www.fishers.in.us/5G . Here you will find more materials about this technology, permit activity, laws and regulations. This is a great resource to share with your neighborhood.
Verizon Wireless representatives will host a virtual meeting for all involved parties to address comments or concerns submitted. Affected residents, HOA representatives and property management companies are invited to attend the virtual stakeholder meeting with Verizon. City of Fishers Engineering and I will be present to answer any questions and to facilitate on behalf of the City. Ahead of the meeting, I will share the feedback received for your neighborhood. I will work with you to help answer any questions and voice any concerns to Verizon. Should you have any questions regarding Verizon Wireless 5G deployment please contact the 5G outreach team at 5G@fishers.in.us or call 317-537-1133.
