On Tuesday, January 18th, the Fishers Board of Public Works reviewed the Verizon 5G Cell Tower permits of four different communities in Fishers, including a permit for Glenn Abbey in Windermere at 10299 Cheswick Lane.

At this hearing, the Fishers Board of Public Works did clarify for the record it is considering only active permit locations, and that any “Proposed” or “Pending” tower locations won’t be considered until an active permit request is filed.  The location at 10186 Glenn Abbey Lane was not discussed since it is a proposed location with no permit.

The permit location in Glenn Abbey at 10299 Cheswick Lane was denied in a unanimous vote by all three Board of Public Works members.  You can watch the Board’s discussion of the Glenn Abbey permit on this video of the meeting, starting at 42:28.

While this permit location is denied (it could be resubmitted at a different location), there remain another 20+ sites where Verizon is considering 5G tower installations for Windermere neighborhoods (see the 5G Small Cell Nodes map and zoom into the Windermere area).

This is a good outcome for Windermere at this point.  Verizon still has the option of filing new permits for any location within the Windermere community.  For now, there are no active permits slated for Windermere and we will continue to monitor for new permits which we assume will happen someday.
